Introduction: Bee House

Helping the environment and our fellow animals is always a fun and friendly task. This easy and simple bee house is great to put up outside around your house. The bees will be safe and in return they will help pollinate your flowers. In just a few easy steps you can have your very own bee house!

Supplies

  • Half inch plywood
  • Block of wood (I used a 4x4 piece but any size will do)

Step 1: Gathering the Pieces

Starting off, you will need to get four pieces of wood. Two half inch, 7 x 8 in pieces of wood for the roof. Then you will need one 6 x 4 x 4 block of wood for the actual house and one half in 12 x 3.5 for the back of the house. The holes are 1/2 in. and about 3.5 in deep. You can use a drill press or a hand drill.

The house can be any size you want, it can even be a log from outside but just be sure to make the roof 1 in taller and 2 in wider, and the back to be as wide as need be.

Step 2: Sanding (optional)

After you get the wood, you can use a belt sander to make the wood smoother and give it a beveled yet rustic look.

Step 3: Adding the Roof

Put the two roof pieces on the main house. Make sure that the longer side of the roof is hanging off the house. Then, use a nail-gun and an adult to help you nail the pieces together. Make sure not to shoot the nail through the holes.

Step 4: Adding the Back

Now nail the back piece of wood to the back of the house and make sure that everything is secure

Step 5: Finished

Now your house is complete and you can hang it up but screwing the back into a tree.
