Introduction: Blackberry Lemonade

About: I like to design and build random things.

We grow backyard blackberries and raspberries so we are are always looking for things to make from them. This week, we decided to make blackberry lemonade. Blackberries plus lemons makes for a delicious tart drink. Four ingredients plus ice are all you need.

Step 1: Ingredients

This recipe makes a little more than a 1/2 gallon of Blackberry Lemonade.

  • 4 Cups Blackberries (1 Cup Juice)
  • 2 Cups Lemon Juice
  • 5 Cups Water
  • 2 Cups Sugar

Step 2: Blackberries

The blackberries were picked about a month ago and kept frozen. Put the berries in a pot and turn the burner on low heat. The berries will soften and release the juice. Do not let the juice boil.

Step 3: Juice

Strain blackberries into another pot or heat proof container to get the juice. Don't press the berries; just let them drip the clear juice into the pot below. After a few minutes, remove the strainer with the berries. Reserve the berry pulp for a future dessert, as shown here.

Step 4: Juice

From the 4 cups of blackberries, you should get about 1 cup of juice.

Step 5: Mix

Mix the berry juice, lemon juice, water and sugar ingredients in a 1/2 gallon container and stir well.

Step 6: Serve

Add ice and top with a lemon slice and few fresh blackberries. Enjoy!
