In this Instructable, I am going tell you how to build your very own satellite that can take pictures of earth, monitor the space environment and it consist of a telescope that can take picture of other planets.

Step 2: Features

1.Telescope- A on board telescope attached with a camera take picture of other planets or galaxies

2.Remote sensing - A camera that that take picture of earth

3.Space Environment Monitoring- A bundle of sensors that collects data about space environment

All this outputs can be received by a computer

4.All this features for just 2000 USD

Step 3: Telescope and Remote Sensing

1.Buy a telescope of your choice

Here, I am planed to buy a "Celestron Travel Scope (Compact 70 mm) Telescope

(165 x)" from Flipkart. It just cost about 85 USD.

2.Buy a UHF Camera

I've planed to but a mini UHF Camera like this one and It have an inbuilt transmitter and no need for external one.

It can transmit video signals at 8 different frequencies

I'm going to set it at 750 Mhz

My camera's Specifications:

Mini size camera, easy to carry

All is well except one thing that is it's transmission power. It's transmission power is just 11 dbm and it's not enough to transmit telescope's video from lower earth orbit, At least we need 25 dbm to transmit video clearly. So I'm going to use a UHF power amplifier like this one from ebay.

It have ability to boost the signal from 11 dbm to 30 dbm, hence we can transmit the video clearly from space.

Just connect the camera with telescope and solder the signal cable of camera to booster and connect a high sensitivity antenna to output of booster.

Remote Sensing:

Attach a other camera with all setup like above and don't connect with telescope, just attach to to satellite as facing earth that it can take pictures of earth and transmit and Images can be used for remote sensing.

Setup this camera to transmit video at different frequencies. I am going Setup Telescope's camera at 750 Mhz and remote sensing camera at 650 MHz.

Step 4: Space Environment Monitoring

Here, We are going to use Arduino.

Follow and complete this Instructable.

After completion connect the Tx pin of you Arduino to Rx pin of the transmitter like this one from Hobby King.

This is a half-duplex transmitter operating at 433 MHz with transmitting power of 20 dbm and also don't forget connect the booster which is used for telescope and remote sensing.

Receiver can be easily plugged into USB port if your computer and just install the driver.

Now, You can monitor the Space environment from any Serial terminal like Arduino's Serial Monitor at real time from space

Step 5: Conclusion

Basically, I'm a Tenth Grade student from India Inspired to made a high performance satellite at Very low cost at my budget of 1000 USD.

I've designed all house keeping subsystem of my satellite like Power System, Attitude and determination control system and etc at very low cost.
