Introduction: CNC Snowflake Coasters

This project was made by Giselle, Gregory, and Martin from Piedmont Hills High School. In this project we made snowflake coasters. They are cute decorations for your tables in order to not have any water stains on your table that come from cups. They are easy to make and look appealing to the eye.

Supplies

The supplies we used are:

Step 1:

First find reference images in the internet

Step 2:

Use the program above or build your own program in NCCode Viewer

Program assumes Plywood with 1 inch diameter 3 tooth drill bit when determining feed rate and spindle speed.

Step 3:

Run the program on a CNC machine. Be sure to do an air cut first just to make sure the machine doesn’t explode while the program is running. Run using a small ⅛ inch diameter milling bit.

Step 4:

Extract the Coaster, be careful while doing so because the edges will be rough and you want to avoid prickling your finger. Sand the coaster down to get rid of the edges.

Step 5:

  1. Paint the coaster. We went with a white color for the design.
  2. You now have a Snowflake Coaster!

Reflection:

This project helped us all socialize more with newer people rather than our friends. Along with that, this project allowed us to be able to think outside of the box and be able to create something that we could all agree is pleasing to other people. This project, in all, allowed us to use our brains in a group to problem solve when problems came at us, create ideas, and become more social with those we have never talked to.
