Introduction: Camping Egg Protector

When camping it is great to have bacon and eggs for breakfast over a campfire. But eggs, being what they are, tend to be fragile and can easily be broken. A solution is to protect a couple of eggs in an exoskeleton (beverage can) with shock Absorbtion material (Popcorn) all around.

Supplies

Popcorn

Aluminum beverage can

Step 1: Making the Shock Absorbtion Material

Make some popcorn by following the instructions on the packet. I made mine in a microwave oven.

Step 2: Embedding the Eggs

Remove the top of an aluminum beverage can. I filed the top off with a bastard file, but you could also use an 'army rations' style can opener to remove the top.

Place some popcorn in the bottom of the can and then the egg. Place in some more popcorn and then another egg. Top off with more popcorn.

Step 3: Sealing

Seal the top with cling film to keep the popcorn in. The eggs can now be carried to a camping ground without them breaking.

Step 4: Unpack and Cook

The eggs are unpacked from the can at the camping ground and can be used for cooking. I used the eggs to make some tasty egg and ham jaffles in a Jaffle iron on the camp fire.

The popcorn also provided a nice snack.

Step 5: Recycling Gas Canisters

If you want to place a used camping gas canister in the recycling bin, show that no gas is left in it by puncturing holes in the canister. There is a special Jet Boil tool to do this, but a pair of sturdy wire cutters work just as well. As demonstrated above.
