Introduction: Casette Case Dock

I wantd to make a dock for my new Zopo ZP 998 but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it.

When I was just wandering around between our old casettes I got the inspiration: a case would be a nice and steady base for my project!

So I tear apart an usb cable and this is the result. I made picture documentation for it so you can follow my steps and a habe an ubercool retro casette dock!

Step 1: What You'll Need

Materials:

  • Casette box
  • Micro usb - usb cable (a.k.a data cable/ charging cable)
  • Craft foam
  • Furniture foot pads

Tools:

  • Rotary tool ( for tearing apart the pastic casing of the micro usb)
  • Soldering iron (for making holes / you can use your rotary tool as well)
  • Scrissors
  • Sharpie
  • Glue (epoxy is the best)

OPTIONAL (for securing onto table)

  • Velcro
  • L shaped metal with holes
  • Bolt and nut

Step 2: Step 1: Tearing the Cable Apart

With your rotary tool remove all plastic around the micro usb end of your cable. Be careful not to cut the cables!

Step 3: Step 2 & 3 : Prepairing the Case and Securing the Micro Usb

Take your casette box and mark the place where the charger hole is. If your case is transparent, it'll be asy to do it. Then make a hole with your preferred tool and secure the micro usb end with glue.

Step 4: Step 4 : Cutting the Paper and the Foam

we have to cutthe holes for the micro usb and some foam for the cushioning

Step 5: Step 5 : Improving Stability

to make the case even more stable we can put furniture felt on the bottom in 2 layers and a hole for the cable to go out

Step 6: Step 6: OPTIONAL - Securing Onto Table

I neede to secure it to a table because if I tried to remove my phone , the dock came along. I fixed a L shaped metal to the box and glued velcro on it and on the table, too.

Step 7: Step 7: Decorating and You're Done

I received a fancy sticker sheet with my casette so I decided to use it to decorate my dock.

I hope you enjoyed my instructable as I did, if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments below.
