Introduction: Charlie Parker Canvas

Supplies needed:

1 8 x 12-inch white canvas

Cricut software installed on a device

1 Cricut machine

1 8 x 12-inch piece of Cricut-compatible black vinyl

1 8 x 12 inch piece of Cricut transfer paper

Some (or lots of) patience!

Step 1: Step 1: Creating the Image

In the Cricut app, create the image that will be cut by the Cricut machine. The quote goes as follows:

If you don't

live it, it

won't come out

of your horn.

-Charlie Parker

I recommend this spacing because it fits the best on the canvas, but that is subject to interpretation. I chose for my canvas to contain only capital letters, but again the case of the letters is open to interpretation.

Step 2: Step 2: Printing the Image

Assemble all the necessary parts of your Cricut device that you will need in order to start the printing of your quote. If you are in need of assistance, here is a handy guide on Cricut, and how it works: https://help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/36000955...

Once you know how to print your quote, get printing! It shouldn't take very long to print, but while it's printing, make sure your transfer paper is ready to go.

Step 3: Step 3: Transfer

Once your image has finished printing, remove it from the Cricut and the printing mat.

Remove the sticker located around the words you have printed in order for the transfer paper to successfully pick up the correct letters

Place the transfer onto the letters, and slowly lift the transfer paper, making sure that the quote is stuck to the paper. You may need to press down pretty firmly, but don't press too firmly, otherwise, the letters will not stick to the canvas.

Place the transfer paper onto your canvas, and begin to transfer the letters onto it. This is where the added patience may be needed. If you need help, here is a guide on transfer paper that may be useful: https://help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/36000943...

I recommend having a flat surface you can use to press the letters in the canvas once they are off of the transfer paper (I used a ruler), as this helps them stick better than just pressing them in with your fingers. I've included this picture of Parker for some motivational support.

Step 4: Step 4: Admire Your Work!

Congratulations! You should now have a canvas of a great quote by the ever-famous saxophone player Charlie Parker. Maybe the process was a little bit more frustrating than you expected it to be, but that's what art is all about, right? I think that's what the Bird would say at least.
