Introduction: Cheap, Easy Canoe "Rack"

This tutorial shows you how to make a cheap, easy system for aiding in the transportation of a canoe on a vehicle roof!

Step 1: Supplies

For this project you will need

- Two(2) fun noodles approximately 3 feet long.

- A knife

Mostly likely, when you buy it from the store, it will be more like 6 ft and you will have to cut it in half

**Pro Tip** You want super stiff, thick pool noodles. The flimsy ones go flat after a while and will fall off mid-travel!

Step 2: Cut Noodles

Cut each of your noodles length wise (along white line shown in picture). Make sure to cut completely through to the hollow center of the noodle.

Step 3: Assembling "Rack" on Canoe

Open up the cut you just made and place the noodle on the edge of the canoe . Push the noodle as far down on the side as you can.

Step 4: Last Minute Touches

Depending on your specific canoe, you may have a spot where the noodle doesn't slip completely down over the side due to a brace.

Take your knife and cut a little notch out until the noodle can be pushed completely down.

I regret that I don't have a picture of the canoe on my car but as you can see from the canoe on the ground, your canoe will rest on the noodles and not touch or scratch up the top of your vehicle with this "rack"! Even better, if your noodles are fitted really nice and tight they will keep the canoe from slipping/sliding on top of your vehicle.
