Introduction: Chicken Pie With a Twist

You must have had all kinds of pie, but trust me, this one will be the best. The easiest, most straightforward, yet most fantastic bakery-style chicken pie. The twist in this recipe is it's not baked, but it's fried. It is OK to gain extra calories when you eat such tasty food.

I first tried this recipe in the baked version. My mom said this would taste better if it was fried. So one day, I tried this updated recipe, and wow, everyone loved this new chicken pie. I have been making pie the same way ever since. I am very excited to share this recipe. Without any further ado, we will begin with the recipe.

Supplies

  1. Chicken - 300-400 grams.
  2. Salt.
  3. Black Pepper powder.
  4. Chili flakes.
  5. Oregano.
  6. Oil.
  7. All purpose Flour.
  8. Egg.
  9. Garlic.
  10. Green Chilies.
  11. Onion.
  12. Vinegar.
  13. Milk.

Step 1: Make a Dough

  1. Take 1 cup of all-purpose flour.
  2. To that, add half a teaspoon of salt or salt as per taste.
  3. Add 3-4 tablespoons of refined oil.
  4. Mix with the dry flour well.

Step 2: Kneading

  1. Add water little by little and make a smooth dough.
  2. Make the dough a bit hard.
  3. Our dough is ready.
  4. Keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Step 3: Chop Chop

  1. Chop about 300-400 grams of boneless chicken.
  2. Don't make it too small.
  3. Finely chop 3 tablespoons of garlic and 2 tablespoons of green chilies.

Step 4: Saute

  1. Heat a pan.
  2. To that, add 4 tablespoons of oil.
  3. Heat it.
  4. Add chopped garlic to it.
  5. Then add chopped green chilies.
  6. Let them cook for a few seconds.

Step 5: Time for Some Onions

  1. Once the rawness of the garlic goes away, add chopped onions.
  2. Sauté till the onions are cooked.

Step 6: Cook Chicken

  1. Add chopped chicken.
  2. Mix well.

Step 7: Taste Starter

  1. Add 1/2 tablespoon of salt.
  2. Add 1/2 tablespoon of black pepper powder.
  3. Mix everything well.

Step 8: Taste Maker

  1. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar.
  2. 1 Tablespoon of chili flakes.
  3. 1 tablespoon of oregano.
  4. Mix everything well.

Step 9: Cover and Cook

  1. Cover the pan and let it cook.
  2. This will take 5 mins.
  3. After 5 minutes, turn of the flame and let the mixture cool down.

Step 10: Stuffing

  1. To the cooked chicken, add 1/2 cup of grated cheese.
  2. Add 3-4 tablespoons of coriander leaves.
  3. Mix everything well.
  4. Our stuffing is ready.

Step 11: Rolling Dough

  1. Once the dough is set for 30 minutes, divide the dough into small balls.
  2. Roll it as thin as possible.

Step 12: Rotis

  1. Take 1 roti.
  2. Brush some oil over it.
  3. Sprinkle and dust flour.
  4. Place another roti over it.
  5. And roll it together.
  6. Do the same with all the roti's.

Step 13: Cook Rotis

  1. Take a frying/ shallow pan.
  2. Once it's hot, put the rolled roti.
  3. when you see small bubbles, flip and cook from other side.
  4. Keep flipping it and cook it from both sides.

Step 14: Cut Rotis

  1. Cut the round rotis into square shape.
  2. And separate the rotis.
  3. Watch the GIF for reference.

Step 15: Egg Wash

  1. In a bowl, crack an egg.
  2. Add salt and pepper as per taste.
  3. Add 4-5 tablespoons of milk.
  4. Mix everything well.
  5. Egg wash is ready.

Step 16: Make Packets

  1. Take one square sheet.
  2. Place 1-2 tablespoons of the prepared stuffing in the middle.
  3. Use egg wash and secure the packet from all sides.

  5. Make all the packets similarly.

Step 17: Final Coating

  1. Dip the packets into the egg wash.
  2. Then coat it with breadcrumbs.
  3. It is now ready for frying.

Step 18: Frying

  1. Take a deep pan.
  2. Heat oil for deep frying.
  3. Once the oil is completely hot, fry the prepared packets till they're nice golden brown and crispy.

Step 19: Ready!
