Introduction: Clock Project

For this project you will need-

  • 1 Arduino
  • 1 Breadboard
  • Jumper wires
  • Seven segment display
  • a button
  • box of some type
  • 2 resistors
  • USB cord
  • (Most featured in Sunfounder kit)

Step 1: Setup the Wries

The first step to making an accurate clock is the wiring on the bottom of the seven segment display. Search on google SMA420564 and it will show you the wires on the bottom of the clock labeled. Make sure your plugging in the jumper wires on the correct side.

Next use the jumper wires with the metal tips and pug each one into each of the other wires that are connected to the seven segment display.Plug each wire into the arduino according to whats on the diagram.

Step 2: Coding

This link will get you to the code for this project: https://github.com/Keyu-Chen/digital_clock/blob/master/digital_clock.ino

Step 3: Housing the Clock

By now your clock should work. This step is to keep your clock safer and I recommend this step but it is still optional. The box that the materials came in (Sunfounder kit box) is what I used. What you do is stick the seven segment display through the top of the box and make sure when attaching the jumper wires to the pins be careful and make sure which wires go on the decimal side.Tape down the arduino and breadboard, install a battery pack and plug the USB cord in and your done!
