Introduction: Coca Cola Chocolate Bottle Cake

Hi guys, This is a fun recipe for how to make a Coca Cola chocolate bottle cake. The cake recipe uses Coca Cola to make it really moist and yummy. It gets a fantastic reception from adults and kids alike!

Step 1: Watch the Video!

Step 2: Ingredients

Cake ingredients

250g self raising flour
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
300g golden caster sugar
3 tbsp cocoa powder
2 eggs
250g butter
175ml Coca Cola
1 tsp vanilla extract
75ml milk


Chocolate bottle

150g white chocolate
300g milk chocolate


Icing ingredients

200g icing sugar
100g butter
2 tbsp Coca Cola
2 tbsp cocoa powder

Step 3: Make the Cake

  • Remove the label from the Coca Cola bottle
  • Mark the level of the Coca Cola on the bottle
  • Preheat oven 180°F / 160°C
  • Put 250g of butter into a pan and melt over a low heat
  • Add 175ml of Coca Cola into the pan and stir
  • Sift 250g of self raising flour into the bowl
  • Add 1/2 tsp of bicarbonate of soda into the bowl
  • Add 3 tbsp of cocoa powder into the bowl
  • Add 300g of golden caster sugar into the bowl
  • Stir in 2 eggs
  • Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and mix the ingredients
  • Add milk to the pan and stir
  • Slowly add the contents of the pan into the bowl and whisk thoroughly
  • Pour the mixture into a prepared tin
  • Bake for 40 mins at 180°F / 160°C
  • Leave the cake to cool

Step 4: Make the Icing

  • Sift 200g of icing sugar into a bowl
  • Put 100g of butter into a pan and melt over a low heat
  • Add 2 tbsp of Coca Cola to the pan
  • Add 2 tbsp of cocoa powder to the pan and stir
  • Add the mixture to the icing sugar
  • Whisk until smooth

Step 5: Cut the Coca Cola Bottle in Half

  • Use a sharp knife to slice open the Coca Cola bottle
  • Cut the bottle in half with scissors

Step 6: Make the Top White Chocolate Layer

  • Melt 150g of white chocolate in a microwave
  • Pour the melted white chocolate into the inverted top of the bottle
  • Rotate the white chocolate around the bottle, coating the inside up to the mark
  • Leave the white chocolate to set
  • Add more white chocolate to create a thicker layer
  • Leave the white chocolate to set

Step 7: Make the Bottom Milk Chocolate Layer

  • Melt 300g of milk chocolate in a microwave
  • Pour the melted milk chocolate into the base of the bottle
  • Rotate the milk chocolate around the base to cover the inside
  • Leave the chocolate to set

Step 8: Make the Top Milk Chocolate Layer

  • Pour the milk chocolate into the top of the bottle
  • Rotate the milk chocolate around the top and coat the rest of the inside
  • Leave the milk chocolate to set

Step 9: Layer the Cake in the Bottle

  • Cut out circles of cake with a cutter
  • Fill the top and bottom of the bottle with alternating layers of cake and icing

Step 10: Remove the Plastic

  • To make it easier to remove the plastic, freeze the top and bottom for about 20 minutes
  • Cut away the plastic and remove the two halves of the cake

Step 11: Attach the Top to the Bottom

  • Spread a layer of icing on the mating surfaces
  • Join the two halves of the cake

Step 12: Attach the Label and Bottle Top

  • Wrap the Coca Cola label around the middle of the cake
  • Place the Coca Cola lid on top

Step 13: Best Served Chilled

You can now enjoy your Coca Cola bottle cake.

To slice, use a hot knife.
