This guide gives instructions on how to use the rubbing plates set up throughout the scavenger hunt in Broomfield, Colorado.

Step 1: Supplies

Download and print the rubbing guide page, and grab a pencil or crayon.

Step 2: Folding the Paper Template

Fold the sheet on the long side along the first set of cross marks.

Step 3: Folding the Paper Template

Now fold along all the cross marks on the long side. Tip: Use your first fold as a guide, and accordion fold the rest of the paper.

Step 4: Folding the Paper Template

Next, fold along the cross marks in the other direction along the short side. At the end, you should have a paper with 20 squares folded.

Step 5: Setting Up the Paper on the Rubbing Plate

When you locate a rubbing plate during the scavenger hunt. Flip your paper over, and match up the number on the back of each square with the number listed on the podium below the plate. In this example, I’m doing the A1 square which is the top most left square of the paper.

Step 6: Rub

Lay your plate on a flat surface. Cover your plate with the correct square on the paper. Now rub using a crayon or pencil over the area. The image will reveal itself. Don't be afraid to put lots of pressure.
