Introduction: Cookie Dough Cobbler

About: I'm just a lady who likes making stuff. I got my degree in engineering but also enjoy cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening and backpacking, among other things.

This is probably the easiest thing I know how to make and it's so delicious! It's great desert to bring to pot lucks since you can make big trays of it and transport it easily and it's a fun take on a classic recipe everyone will love!

You can make this cobbler using pretty much any type of fruit you would normally put into a cobbler, fresh or frozen. In this instructable I use frozen berries since it's my favorite but they aren't in season right now :(

Step 1: Ingredients

For this recipe there are only two things you really need, but you can add a few more ingredients if you're feeling fancy. Here's what I used for this batch which filled a 9"x9" pan:

  • Approximately 5 cups of frozen mixed berries (this depends how deep you want your cobbler and what fruit you are using, but basically enough fruit to fill the pan 2 inches)
  • a package of frozen sugar cookie dough
  • cinnamon (optional)

If you want to get fancy, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar to the fruit filling before you put it in the pan in the next step.

Step 2: Add Berries

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Add the berries to the pan you're going to back your cobbler in. If you're adding cornstarch or sugar, mix that in with your fruit before you add it. Make sure they are in an evenly distributed layer in the bottom of the pan.

Step 3: Add Cookie Dough Crust

Take you package of cookie dough and place it evening around the top of the pan. If you're using a roll of dough, cut it into 1/4 inch slices and place them around. Make sure you leave a little space in between them since the cookie dough will spread out a bit. Sprinkle with cinnamon before you put it in the oven, if you like it.

Step 4: Bake and Serve!

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes to start with, then check on them. If the cookie dough isn't as golden brown as you like it, bake it for a few more minutes, checking frequently.

When it's done, serve it while it's warm, with some vanilla ice cream! Yum!
