In the winter people like to sit on radiators because they're toasty and warm. This chair enables comfortable sitting while reading or watching TV. It's in two parts which are shaped to lock onto the radiator. This allows different seating angles and spacing.

Supplies

Scrap wood or plywood.

½" felt

wood glue

nails or screws

contact cement

varnish

Step 1: Gather Some Wood

I had some pieces of 3/4" oak left over from another project. The back piece is 22"x7". The seat is 11"wide x 9"deep. The riser piece is 4 ½"high. You will probably want to resize depending on your radiator and whatever you're leaning the back against.

Step 2: Cut the Pieces

The most important part is the round cut-out that allows the boards to lock onto the radiator. Mine is about a 3" diameter arc. Cut this with a hole saw, bandsaw, jigsaw... whatever you have. Test fit the pieces on the radiator. Some shaping with a round rasp or file will probably be needed to get a good fit.

Step 3: Glue Up the Seat

Wood glue and screws or nails should hold it together.

Step 4: Add the Felt

I used contact cement which is very smelly, but holds well. Apply it to both sides. Allow to dry. THEN stick the pieces together. Alternately you could tack the felt on without the glue.
