Introduction: Creamiest Mashed Potatoes
This recipe will give you the best mashed potatoes ever. they are smooth and creamy and very flavorful for a dish using only 4 ingredients.
Step 1: Clean the Potatoes
The first step to making the best mashed potatoes, is to give them a good cleaning. We will be boiling the potatoes whole with the skin on. For this recepie, I will use fingerling potatos as they are in season and reletivly quick to cook due to their shape.
Step 2: Boil the Potatoes
Next, bring a pot of water up to a boil, and put the cleaned potatoes into the water. Reduce to a simmer and cook for about 25-30 minutes. If you are using round or large potatoes increase the time to about 40 minutes. Then, drain the potatoes.
Step 3: Peel the Potatoes
After draining the potatoes ,quickly peel them. This must be done when the potatoes are hot or they will become very starchy and sticky. I find the best way to peel them is to cut into the potatotes and peel them from the cut.
Step 4: Puree the Potatoes
Next, use a stick blender, a blender, or a fine food mill to puree the potatoes. Pureeing the potatoes give it a really smooth texture. After blending push the potatoes through a strainer.
Step 5: Adding the Butter and Seasoning
Preparing some butter roughly equal to a third of the weight of the potatoes, and separate them into 3 portions. heat the potato mash in the saucepan and add a portion of butter. Mix the butter in with the potatoes as the butter melts, and repeat with the remaining 2 portions of butter. Once this is done, optionally add around 2 tbsp of milk. Finally, season with salt to taste. Now you are left the with best mashed potatoes on earth.
