Introduction: Create a Space Station in TinkerCad Codeblock||Easy Tutorial

While the thought of living in space may seem like science fiction, as you read this the International Space Station is circling the earth at a speed of five miles per second, orbiting the earth once every 90 minutes. In this project you will learn how to use Tinkercad to create a space station of your own. You will follow instructions on building specific components of a space station and then will be set off on your own to continue building out the required modules.

Here how you can create a Space Station in Tinkercad Code blocks.

Hope you enjoy.

Supplies

ThinkerCad: TinkerCad

You should have some basic knowledge of tinkercad code blocks, like moving and rotating object..

If not you can use my code....

Step 1: Building a Rocket

In order to change the position, speed, or altitude of your space station you will need to create a propulsion system. You will need a compartment for fuel and a nozzle to direct the force generated by the rocket, but feel free to be as creative as you wish once you understand how to build in Tinkercad Codeblock.

Plan your Rocket:

The entire rocket is built from 4 simple shapes, including a Cone, Paraboloid, Cylinder, and Half Sphere.

1.Create the Engine Housing

⦿Place a Cylinder on the Workplane and size it to be 12.5mm in radius and 25mm tall. Change the color to White

⦿Place another Cylinder on the Workplane and size it to be 2.5mm in radius and 18mm tall.

⦿Place a Half Sphere shape on the Workplane and size the diameter to 2.5mm.

⦿Duplicate the Half Sphere and rotate it 180°, so it is upside down. You now have the canister end caps and they need to be positioned on the ends of the canister.

⦿Place them as shown in the image. Change the color to Black.

⦿Align the canister as shown in image.

⦿Duplicate the canister and place them as in image.

⦿Group the two canister and duplicate it and rotate it 45°.Repeat this step to create more canister.

⦿Place a Half Sphere shape on the Workplane and size the radius to 12.5mm and place it above the cylinder.

⦿Place a Cone shape on the Workplane and size it to be 12.5 in radius to match the engine radius.

Rotate the cone 180° so the point of the cone is facing down and place it below the engine.

⦿Place a Parabaloid shape on the Workplane and size it to be 12.5mm in radius and place them as shown in image.Group all of them.

⦿Place a Parabaloid shape on the Workplane and size it to be 12.5mm in radius and change it to a hole and group them.

⦿Place a Cylinder on the Workplane and size it to 7.5mm in radius and 15mm tall. change the color to white and place it above the rocket.

⦿Place another cylinder radius little bit smaller than the above cylinder and make this cylinder hole and group all the shapes.

Refer the Code in image above.

NOTE: I have changed the rotation and location of the rocket to fit it with the whole Space Station.

Step 2: Building a Housing Module

While in space one of the most important modules will provide astronauts and scientists a place to rest their heads at the end of a long research day.

Our housing module will not only provide living space, but also docking ports for the research modules and visiting space craft.

❖Place a Tube shape on the Workplane and size it to be 40mm in radius and 18mm tall.

❖Place a Cone shape on the Workplane and size it to be 40mm in radius and 25mm tall and place it above the tube.

❖Place another Cone shape on the Workplane and size it to a radius of 40mm and a height of 25mm.Rotate the Cone 180° so the flat part is facing upwards and place it below the tube.

❖Place a Cylinder on the Workplane and size it to 20mm in radius and make it 100mm tall. Change it to a hole.

❖Group all.

❖Place two Box on the Workplane and size it to be 80mm square and make it a hole and place them as in image.

❖Create group. Change the color to grey.

❖Place a Cylinder on the Workplane and size it to 5mm in radius and 15mm tall. Rotate it 90°.And place as in the image. Change the color to white.

❖Duplicate the cylinder and place it in the opposite side. Group the two cylinder.

❖Rotate the new group 45° around the Workplane.
❖Duplicate them two more times to place the docking ports around the housing module.

Refer image for more details.

I have made changes in the location to fit it for the final space station.

Step 3: Create the Cylindrical Part of the Space Station

⦿Place a cylinder of radius 10 mm and height of 50mm.Rotate it 90° along the x-axis.

⦿Place a cone of bottom radius 10mm and height of 20mm.Rotate it -90° along the x-axis. Place it in front of the cylinder.

⦿Place another cone of bottom radius 10mm and height f 20mm.Rotate it 90° along the x-axis. Place it in back of the cylinder.

⦿Place two cube and make them hole and place each of them on the either end of the cone and group them.

⦿Place two cylinder of radius 3 mm and place them on the either end of the cone.Rotate it 90° along x-axis.

⦿Group all.

⦿Repeat the above steps two more times to create two more and place them as shown in the image.

⦿Move the first group to :

Y-axis: -10

Z-axis: 8

⦿Rotate the second and third group 90° along the z-axis.

⦿Move the second group to:

x-axis : -90

y-axis:-200

z-axis :8

⦿Move the third group to:

x-axis : 90

y-axis:-200

z-axis :8

Step 4: Create Those Solar Panels

You have seen solar panels on the ISS. So lets create them on our model

⦿Place a cylinder of radius 5 mm and height 20mm.

⦿Place a cone of bottom radius 5 mm and place it above the cylinder you have created.

⦿Place a cylinder of radius 3 mm and height 50 mm. Move it little bit above the cone.

⦿Place two more cylinder with radius 3 mm and height 60 mm.Rotate them 90° on the x-axis. Move one little bit above the cone and other to the top of the long cylinder. Refer the image.

⦿Place two cube of width 1 mm length 20 mm and height 65mm. Move them on both the side.

⦿Group them.

⦿Create 5 more of them and place as shown in image.

Step 5: Build the Middle Part of ISS

⦿Place a cylinder of radius 3 mm and height 100 mm. Rotate 90° on the x-axis.

⦿Place another cylinder of radius 5 mm and height 50 mm and rotate it 90°.Move it to the center of the first cylinder.

⦿Place two more cylinder of radius 5 mm and height 5 mm. Rotate them 90° on x axis and place them on the either side of second cylinder like in the image.

⦿Place two more cylinder of radius 3 mm and height 40 mm. Rotate one 45° on y axis and other -45° on y axis.

⦿Group them and duplicate them and move them as in image.

⦿Place 4 more cylinder of radius 5 mm and height 40 mm and also change its edge to 10 and edge step to 5

⦿Place them as in image.

⦿Move all of them as in the code.

Step 6: And You Have Completed!!

Feel free to add more details...
