Introduction: Crispy Onion Pakoda
Whether you want to entertain your guests or enjoy a cold or a rainy evening, onion pakodas can never go out of fashion. It is best tasted with a cup of hot ginger tea or with your favorite chutney.
With the winter just around the corner, I'm gonna show you how to make these crispy and tasty treats. This is a very simple recipe with very less ingredients, but tastes like heaven.
So let's get cooking !!
Step 1: Ingredients
For this crispy snack, you'll need the following ingredients:
- Red Onions
- Gram Flour (Besan Flour)
- Corn Flour
- Ginger Garlic Paste
- Curry Leaves
- Red Chili Powder
Step 2: Prepping the Mixture
This is a pretty straight forward recipe and there's not much preparation required.
Take a mixing bowl and add thin sliced onions into it. Now add 2 Tablespoons Gram Flour and 1 Tablespoons Corn Flour to it.
Also add 2 Teaspoons Red Chili Powder, 1 Teaspoons salt, and another Teaspoons of Ginger Garlic paste.
Now chop up some curry leaves and add it into the bowl.
Mix well the contents of the bowl by your hands. Once everything is mixed well, keep it aside and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Deep Fry Time
Now that the mixture is prepared, it's time to deep fry it and make us some hot pakodas.
Heat some oil in a frying pan. Once the oil is heated, add the onion mixture into the oil in the form of little chunks. Take a rough sized sphere of the mixture and let it into the oil in small quantities. This will result in nice small chunks of onions going into the oil. Be careful and try not to splash oil on your hands while frying.
Leave it in the oil till the pakodas become orange in color. Now it's time to remove them.
Step 4: Drain and Serve
Now after the pakodas turn orange in color, remove it from the oil and place it on a paper napkin to remove all the excess oil from it.
Then after all the oil is properly drained out, it's time to serve them. As I said earlier, this tastes best on a cold evening with a cup of hot ginger tea. You can also savor this snack with your favorite chutney or some tomato ketchup.
Bon Apetit !!
