Introduction: Crock-Pot Ribs

The Crock-Pot!

One of the best inventions of all time in my opinion! My wife and I work so getting a meal together at a time that everyone can sit together and enjoy is quiet troublesome at times. Recently I have started using a Crock-Pot for all of our main dish meals during the workweek and what a wonder it has been, especially for the infamous task of cooking Pork Spareribs.

I have never been able to peel off the thin layer of membrane on the underside of ribs successfully. So my mother-in-law taught me how to cook them in the oven without dealing with the membrane at all! That turned out to be a great way but it did not help with the time frame to eat during the workweek. So I thought to myself, what if I did everything to the ribs that I normally would do for the oven however cook them in the Crock-Pot instead!

It was such a successful dish that I had to share it with everyone, so here it goes!

Step 1: Purchase Your Ribs

It does not matter Who, What, When, and Where you buy your Ribs from as long as they are Ribs that you know and trust. In our case that is Spareribs from HEB.

Step 2: Prep Your Work Area and Gather Your Seasoning.

I like to try to keep my work area clean so I will always cover my counter top or working area with parchment paper or Saran Wrap. By doing this it makes for a quick and easy clean up.

I will also mix all of my seasoning together and place in a shaker so that it makes it easy to apply.

Step 3: Season the Ribs and Cut.

After you open the package of Ribs go ahead and season the back side and then the front or top side.

Then what I like to do is to cut the ribs along the bones so that I have sections of ribs with two bones each.

Step 4: Place in Crock-Pot!

You will notice that I have some pictures with Ribs in the Crock-Pot with a liner and some without, that is just to show you that they will cook just as good with a liner or without.

Prior to placing the Ribs into the Crock-Pot you need to put one cup (8 oz) of water in the Crock-Pot and add some of your seasoning to the water.

When placing your Ribs into the Crock-Pot make sure you place them bone down or arch down and stager the ribs the best you can so that you have air gaps/pockets throughout.

As you place your Ribs go ahead and add some more seasoning as you may have removed some during the cutting process.

After they are all placed into the Crock-Pot go ahead and cover them with the lid and set them to cook for eight hours on low (8 Hours Low).

Step 5: Final Steps

It does not matter if you were gone for the eight hours or if you were gone longer than the eight hours your Ribs will be done and ready to serve!

Go and remove your Ribs from the Crock-Pot and place on a non-stick cookie sheet.

Step 6: Completion!

Now you can cover your Ribs with your favorite sauce and then place them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 176.67 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes or until you think they are ready to enjoy.

While they are in the oven this gives you time to prepare other items to have with your Ribs.

Remember the Ribs are ready to eat regardless if you decide to add the sauce and bake them in the oven for 30 minutes.
