Introduction: Cutting Board Knife Holder

This is a cutting board that can hold two kitchen knives. This is for "Engineering in The Kitchen Competition". By Makenzie Preciado, Allayah Griffin, and Jada Nash. This goes through the step by step process of what we did.

Supplies

We used our Chromebooks to be able to make the Cutting Board.

Step 1: The Ideas

First we had to come up with ideas as to what to invent, first of all. So we made three ideas so that we could choose what to make. The first Idea was an object that could hold two utility items together. The second Idea could serve as a cutting board and a place to hold knives. The third Idea was a bento box that could store some utilities and might hold food as well.

Step 2: The Sketch

First I made a sketch for the cutting board; starting off with a simple square shape using the (center) rectangle tool. Then I used the Dimension tool to adjust the measurements. I had to find just the right measurements so that it won't be too big or to small. The width is "5.5" and the length is "7.5".

Step 3: Extruding

Once the Sketch was done all we had to do was to extrude it. We decided that the extrusion should be at least "0.7" inches (using the box to type in the measurements).

Step 4: Bottom Slots (Sketch)

For the Bottom slots to fit the knives inside, Jada made two small square sketches as to where the slots could be. The measurements for the length and width (in order) is: "0.3" (l) and "1.2" (w).

Step 5: Bottom Slots (Extrude)

Jada used the extrude tool to carve out the holes needed to store the cookware. The depth of it is to be exactly "5" inches.

Step 6: Handel (sketch)

Jada sketched out the hole for the handle of the board. The dimensions of the board are: "2.569" (w) and "0.656" (l)

The Jada used the fillet tool to smooth out the edges of the handle hole.

That is it for the Cutting Board !
