Introduction: DIY Frame Bathroom Mirrror

About: Recently started DIY project and now I’m an addict. I like taking old stuff and making something new.
I had an outdated bathroom Mirror held to wall with plastic clips. I wanted to use the mirror but build my own frame.

Step 1: Measure and Cut

I took measurements and used miter saw to make the cuts. I left 2 plastic clips on top and bottom of mirror for support. I marked their location on boards and used miter saw to make the notches, being careful not to go too deep into the board. I could have used pallet wood or anything long enough, but standard baseboards were what I had handy.

Step 2: Nail Boards

I nailed the boards in place and used caulk to fill in any gaps and the notches where the plastic clips were.

Step 3: Paint

I painted it white, used 2 coats and then let dry. I lightly sanded toballow the gun metal grey wax to penetrate a little heavier.

Step 4: Adding Grey and White Wax

I mixed 1 part gun metal grey acrylic paint with 1 part clear wax. I used a chip brush to apply a light layer over boards. I let that dry, then mixed some white wax with the clear wax for a final coat.

Step 5: Finished Project

I am happy with the change, it had been bothering me that the room did not look finished and I wanted to reuse and repurpose what I have rather than buy new.
