Introduction: DIY Moana Kakamora Brownie Cake Pops

About: I'm a 5 year old girl who loves to DIY! My idol is Alton Brown and I want to be just like him! I started my own channel to share my crafts and treats with everyone so I hope you guys like it! I've been really…

After going to the cake pop shop last week, I wanted to make my own. I was watching Moana again with my brother and thought making those cute Kakamora pirates into cake pops would be so adorable! I had brownie mix on me so I ended up making brownie pops instead of cake pops. Since brownies are already moist, you don't have to mix in frosting to get the crumbs to stick together. Brownie pops are sweeter than cake pops, so use cake mix if you'd like something less sweet. You'll also have to add some frosting to the cake crumbs to make them stick together.

Step 1: The Yummy Ingredients...

You will need:

  • brownie mix (or cake mix and some frosting)
  • brown and white candy melts
  • food coloring pens
  • white fondant
  • treat sticks/cake pop sticks
  • 1 hot cocoa packet
  • foam blocks
  • a large bowl
  • a few small bowls or cups
  • a tablespoon
  • a spatula
  • a butter knife
  • wax paper

Step 2: Make the Brownie (or Cake)

Make the brownie mix (or cake mix) by following the directions. Be sure to grease the pan well so you can get it out easily. You can also use a pre-made brownie at the store. Let it cool for about an hour.

Step 3: Cut and Crumble.

Cut the edges off of the brownie and save the edges for a snack later. Crumble the rest of the brownie in the bowl. (If you're using cake, this is the part where you would add the icing until the crumble turns into a dough-like mix and stays together when you roll them into balls.) To make them all the same size, I filled a tablespoon with the brownie mix, then rolled each one into balls.

Step 4: Stick 'em Up!

Melt a few of your brown candy melt wafers in the microwave. Dip your treat sticks into the candy melt and then push it half way into your cake balls. Once you're done, put it in the fridge for about 15 minutes.

Step 5: Chocolate Dipped.

When they are set, microwave the rest of your brown candy melts in a tall and narrow cup. Dip each cake pop into the candy melt. Let any excess drip off and push it into your foam blocks to hold it in place. Put the pops in the fridge for another 15 mins.

Step 6: Put the Coco(a) in Coconut.

To make them look more like coconuts, you can cover each of the pops with a bit of cocoa powder.

Step 7: Let's Face It.

Melt a few wafers of the white candy melt in a bowl. Use some white fondant and make little ovals for the face. Use the candy melt to glue it onto your cake pop. Then use the food coloring pens and draw on the faces! You can also use some fondant to make them hats and other decorations!

Step 8: Chow-time.

That's it! You're done. Time to snack on those sneaky little pirates from Moana.
