About: We are an Italy-based company, who produces angular connectors, made by high-quality materials. Playwood is an innovative assembly system: As a constructions toy, you can easily create your own furntiure. The …

Since I have started my DIY experience, I tried to come up with a project that allows me to cover my recycle bins, combining both my duties as citizen and my passion for design objects. As a green person, I cannot avoid the importance of recycling but I cannot stand anymore to see horrible bins in my backyards, until I designed this solution I am going to describe in the following lines.

Step 1: Why PlayWood?

Using PlayWood connectors and wooden boards, I created my own recycling station, where I put my bins without defacing my garden.

This project is fast and easy to assemble: In very few steps I built a tripartite lodge, where I can recycle paper, plastic materials, bottles and cans.

Step 2: What Do I Need?

The items necessary to build this cover are few and cheap, and of course, you can fold the project once you don't need it anymore or, even better, you can re-assemble the pieces and obtain a different modular structure.

Following the PlayWood design, I used layers fir boards of a thickness between 16 and 19 cm (3/4" and 7/8"); but of course you could use different materials or pallets.
Moreover I used:

  • 8 PlayWood Connectors 90°
  • 6 Fir Layers Boards 80 x 40 cm - 31,50" x 15,75"
  • Allen Key

Step 3: How Do I Build It?

I joint the wooden boards thanks to the high-quality connectors and obtained three rectangular lodges, where I will put my bins.

Once I created the spaces I needed, I stand the structure and create a simple gate, to make my recycling easier.

Now, I am satisfied with the result: I didn't need to nail and drill materials and I got an aesthatic solution in a very little amount of time.

Step 4: What Are You Waiting For?

In my opinion that's the core principle of DIY: easy, fast, cheap. PlayWood helps us to improve these concepts in the most innovative way I have discovered so far.
