Introduction: DIY Solar Battery Charger (LiPo/Li-Ion)

About: Awesome Electronics Tutorials, Projects and How To´s

In this project I will have a look at a commercial solar battery charger. That means I will conduct a few tests with it and afterwards create my own DIY version that improves the functionality of such a solar battery charger. Let's get started!

Step 1: Watch the Video!

The video gives you all the information you need to create your own Solar Battery Charger. During the next steps though, I will present you some additional information.

Step 2: Order the Components!

I got my components from LCSC.com: https://lcsc.com/

Here you can download the BOM files for the project. There you can find the part numbers. But feel free to check with the schematic whether you ordered all the required components.

Step 3: Order the PCBs!

Here you can find the schematic, board layout and Gerber files for the project. Feel free to upload the Gerber files to https://jlcpcb.com/quote to order 10 PCBs for cheap.

Or you can simply open my EasyEDA project with my board design and click the fabrication output button: https://easyeda.com/GreatScott/SolarLiPoChargeProt...

Step 4: SOLDER!

There is not much to say here. Solder all the components to the board and you are done. Feel free to use the attached pictures as a reference.

Step 5: Success!

You did it! You just created your own Solar Battery Charger.
