Introduction: Daddy Daughter Dishpan Cookies

Cookie making doesn't have to be difficult. My grandmother taught me this recipe as a young child and I'm passing it on to my precious daughter. Starring oats, Frosted Flakes, coconut, and of course, sugar, grab all the ingredients and throw them in a large dishpan to make these delicious Daddy Daughter Dishpan Cookies. With a crunchy edge and chewy middle, these Dishpan cookies are sure to be a new favorite around your household with their perfect mix of sweet and salty flavor.

Step 1: Combine Ingredients

Grab a large dishpan and start throwing these ingredients in:

  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 eggs

Combine all ingredients until they are well mixed.

Now, throw in the rest of the ingredients into the same large dishpan:

  • 1 cup shredded coconut flakes
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 cups Frosted Flakes
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Fold ingredients until mixed.

Hint: My Grandma would throw in a handful of dates and chopped walnut pieces sometimes, only to hear her grandchildren complain. Give it a shot if you like that sort of thing!

Step 2: Scoop

Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper. Scoop the cookie mixture out onto the parchment paper with a medium-sized cookie scoop. Between each cookie, leave an inch and a half on all sides.

Step 3: Bake

Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees until cookies are lightly golden brown. If you like a more chewy cookie, decrease baking time by 2 minutes.

Pull cookies from the oven and place them on a cooling rack.

Step 4: Eat

Eat as many of these dishpan cookies as you'd like; preferably leaving some for your daughter and other family members. If not eating right away, you can store these cookies in the freezer to enjoy some other time. They will stay good for months.

Hint: Cookies are best eaten with coffee.
