    I used the ceramic knife because that's what I grabbed. Both have advantages. We got these from Harbor Freight. Inexpensive. I do still like my steel knives.

    I never would have thought of leaving half of the onion uncut so the cut sections have an anchor and are easier to handle. Thank you.

    I have long wanted to get my wife a ceramic knife, but she will have no part of it. She already has some quality steel knives from leading brand makers.
