Tree skirts can get expensive to buy and all just for some fabric to sit under the tree for a portion of the year. If you don't want to invest in one, or just don't have the time, try one of these cheap and easy alternatives to a traditional Christmas tree skirt.

Step 1: Table Cloth

Many people already have table clothes and they are easy to clean and are usually pretty durable. Try wrapping one around the base of the tree and see how it looks! Can work for rectangular and circular.

This one here is actually the one we used last year and are using this year.

Step 2: Skirt

Not surprisingly, you can use an actual circle skirt as a tree skirt. Make sure you put this on before you put the tree up or you're going to have some trouble! A true circle skirt will work best, but you can attempt this with other ones (just not a pencil skirt).

Step 3: Blankets

Just like table clothes, blankets are durable and easy to clean. You probably have a variety around the house and it's easy to wrap one around the tree. For a nicer look, you might want to go for a shiny bed sheet.

Step 4: Curtains

Give up a set of curtains for a short time and you can have an easy skirt for your tree.

Step 5: Cotton

Okay, now for a nontraditional idea.

If you are a crafter, you may have a sack of stuffing just sitting around. Tear it up and spread it out for a fun snowy look under your tree.

Step 6: Tissue Paper

Tissue paper isn't very durable, but it's cheap and lots of time you have some left over from gifts. Spread it out in any pattern you want under the tree and don't worry about just throwing it away when you are done with your tree at the end of the season.
