Introduction: Easy DIY Paper Pumpkin

This DIY Paper Pumpkin is the perfect indoor decoration for Halloween. This project should only take 30 minutes. In this Instructable, I will show you exactly how to make this surprisingly easy craft.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

For this craft, you will need seven pieces of orange construction paper and one piece each of brown and green paper. You will also need a pair of scissors, a hot glue gun, and a pencil. You should know that the hot glue gun is very hot and can be messy, so make sure you are cautious.

Step 2: Folding the Paper

To start off, fold each piece of orange paper in half length-wise. After each one is folded, stack them all evenly on top of each other. You should end with a two-inch stack of seven folded pieces of paper.

Step 3: Stenciling It Out

Next, draw three half-ovals at the bottom of the folded end of the orange paper. These half-ovals should be approximately 2x2 inches. Make sure you only draw these on one piece of folded paper.

Step 4: Cutting the Folded Ovals

After your half-ovals are stenciled out, it't time to cut. Make sure every piece of paper is still stacked on top of each other so multiple ovals will be made with every cut. Be sure to cut on the edge where the paper is folded. You will end up with 21 folded flaps.

Step 5: Gluing the Tips

Next, place a dot of hot glue inside the tip of each folded oval and press the two sides together. Do this to each of the folded ovals.

Step 6: Gluing the Folded Ovals Together

The next step is to hot glue each folded oval together on the outside. Place four dots of glue at the edges of the outer flap. Make sure you don't get any glue in the center. You will end up with a stack of folded ovals all glued together. This step might take some time, so get comfortable!

Step 7: Completing the Base

Pull the two opposing sides toward each other. Stretching the paper apart will reveal the pattern. Glue the two opposing sides together to finish creating the base.

Step 8: Making the Stem

Cut a thin rectangle, approximately 1x3", from the brown construction paper. Roll this rectangle together and glue it intact. Then glue it to the top of the pumpkin base.

Step 9: Making the Leaves

The final step is to draw two leaves in the green construction paper and cut them out. Place two dots of glue next to each other at the base of the pumpkin stem and then stick the leaves intact.

Step 10: Your Pumpkin Is Complete!

Now that your Paper Pumpkin is complete, go decorate it somewhere in your house. This indoor craft is the perfect decoration for mantels, coffee tables, or even the centerpiece for your dining table. Wherever you choose to put your paper pumpkin, it is sure to give your living space a perfect fall aesthetic.
