Introduction: Easy Groundhog Cupcakes

About: I love to create things and i'm just getting started. Date- 10/1/18

Welcome to my Instructable! Since Groundhog Day, which happens to be my birthday, is celebrated during this contest period I thought I would enter these fun groundhog cupcakes. They are fun and easy to make and it doesn't have to be February 2nd to enjoy them either.

Step 1: What You Will Need

Ingredients:

-chocolate cupcakes

-Tootsie rolls -the mini size

-candy eyes

-hot chocolate powder

-chocolate bar

-white candy sprinkles

Tools:

-knife

-cutting board

-plate

To make these Easy Groundhog Cupcakes you can use your favorite cupcake recipe and make them from scratch or you can do what I did and just buy some premade cupcakes at the local grocery store.

Step 2: Making the Groundhog Head

The 1st Step is to make the Groundhog head. Unwrap a Tootsie Roll and roll the whole piece of candy in the palms of your hands till it softens up and becomes a nice round ball. This is the head, set it aside on a plate and continue to make enough for all the cupcakes you are going to decorate. Next, you will use your knife to cut up the Tootsie roll into smaller pieces to make your Groundhog ears, cheeks and nose. Again, rolling these pieces into balls and set them aside. The checks should be smaller than the ears and the nose should be smaller than the checks. Once all the balls have been made and put aside you can now assemble the heads. First, add the candy eyes to the big round ball, then put the checks directly under the eyes touching each other, add the nose, ears, and two white candy sprinkles for the teeth. They should all stick nicely together.

Step 3: Let's Make Dirt!

The 2nd Step is easy. Just cut a chocolate bar up into slivers and tiny chucks. Using a spoon, put a little dent in the frosting of your cupcakes, where you want your Groundhog's head to pop-up. Sprinkle the shaved chocolate and add a little hot chocolate powder to that area to make it look like pieces of earth and dirt.

Step 4: Breaking Ground

Next, push the Tootie Roll head into the indented area making sure not to cover up the Groundhog's teeth. Now your Groundhog looks like he just popped up out of the Earth!

Step 5: Enjoy Your Cupcakes!
