Introduction: Easy Hamburger Cookies

Hi, I'm Michael, and today I'll show you how to make one of my favorite treats as a kid, hamburger cookies! These cookies are a great treat to bring to gatherings and summer cookouts. They add a little fun to dessert and taste great too. The cookies are made from items that are easy to find at the grocery store, and no baking is required. It takes less than 30 minutes to make 3 dozen treats!

Step 1: Ingredients

Here's what you need to get started:

1 Box of Nilla Wafers (The buns)

1 Package of Grasshopper Mint & Fudge Cookies (The patties)

1 Bag of Cocunut Flakes (The lettuce)

1 Can of White Frosting (The condiments)

Food Coloring (Red, Yellow, Green)

None of these ingredients are absolutely required! Feel free to swap the Grasshopper cookies with a different type as you see fit. You can also get creative and add items to make different toppings.

Step 2: Prepare the Condiments

Grab your bowls, and put a scoop of frosting in each bowl. You don't need much frosting for these cookies, so the entire jar is not required. Place one drop of red food coloring in one bowl, one drop of yellow food coloring in another bowl, and mix well.

Now you have ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise for your hamburgers!

Step 3: Prepare the Lettuce

Take one to two handfuls of coconut flakes and put them in your plastic bag. Add a small drop of green food coloring, close the bag. Shake the bag to mix in the food coloring and complete your lettuce.

Our preparation is done, now let's start putting everything together!

Step 4: Assemble the Top Buns

I have found that it is best to assemble the cookies with frosting on each bun so the final product will hold together well. We will put ketchup and mustard one one bun, and the mayonnaise will go with the lettuce on the second bun.

Grab about thirty Nilla Wafers and lay them out flat side up. Spread a layer of red and yellow frosting on each cookie. I decided to split the frosting colors in half down the middle so both the mustard and ketchup can be seen when the hamburgers are fully assembled.

Step 5: Assemble the Bottom Buns

Assembling the second buns follows a very similar process. Once again, grab about thirty Nilla Wafers and spread white frosting on each flat side. Sprinkle a pinch of coconut flakes on top of each cookie and press down lightly.

Now, the Grasshopper cookies can be placed on top of the bottom buns! You can add a little frosting to the bottom of each Grasshopper cookie before placing it on the bun to ensure the assembly holds together.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

Place the ketchup and mustard buns on top and you are finished!

You can press down on the hamburger lightly to push the frosting out. This makes it easier to see all the condiments. I like to put all of the cookies on a plate and sprinkle some additional lettuce to make a nice presentation.

Thanks for learning how to make these hamburger cookies! Let me know how they turned out for you. Enjoy!
