This is a very simple recipe that has just five ingredients! Most crumbles call for a syrup to coat the fruit but I find the fruit sweet enough. It is really easy to do ahead and put in the oven while you are eating dinner, baking in time to have a perfect warm dessert when you finish your main course. I should mention that this recipe serves 4-6.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Gather your ingredients:

  • I 600g package of frozen berries (I like to use President's Choice Power Berry Blend which has dark cherries, blueberries, and blackberries)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup sugar (brown or white, brown gives the dish a more maple flavour)
  • 1/2 tbsp cinnamon

Step 2: Add Frozen Berries to Baking Dish

Add your frozen berries to the dish that you will be baking the crisp in.

Step 3: Make the Crumble

Add the butter to a mixing bowl. Use a fork to smush the butter into many small pieces. Add the sugar, oats, and flour and mix with a fork until crumbly. If the mixture becomes doughy break it up into pea-sized chunks. Add the cinnamon and mix.

Step 4: Put the Crumble on the Berries

Pour the crumble onto the berries. Spread it evenly without packing it down.

Step 5: Bake at 375 Degrees Fahrenheit for 45 Minutes

Bake your crumble enjoying the sweet and spicy aroma as it bakes!

Step 6: Cool for Ten Minutes

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for around ten minutes.

Serve with a lovely spiced tea and some vanilla ice cream or real whipped cream.
