Introduction: Elastic Band Clip - for Easy Continous Press of Ignite Button on Propane Tanktop Heater

I attached a metal paper clip over elastic band, to make it easy press for continous ignite button of a propane tanktop heater. Because it is so hard to continously press the ignite button manually: often it hurts your fingers and having to press it so hard for so long about 30 seconds or even longer, or the flame just automatically goes out quickly even after long presses.

To turn off the heater, just close the knob on the propane tank The red heat will just goes out by iteself within 5 seconds.Don't bother with the clip or the button, leave it stuck in place - guaranteed no leak in propane.

Sample tanktop heater: Dyna-Glo 9K BTU Single burner Tank Top Propane Heater, attached on top of a generic 20lb mteal propane tank.

Supplies

1 elastic band and 1 metal paper clip of about 4cm width wide.

These materials are obtainable very cheaply, such as in dollar stores in USA or Canada for a whole pack about $1 ~ $1.50 each. Elastic bands can even be found for free on roadside / sidewalk, or even on bundled vegetables produce.

Step 1: Wrap Elastic Band

wrap a elastic band over the red ignite button then roll it over its metal arm behind the button, twisting it over double or even triple loop (depending on elastic band width), to ensure it is tightly wrapped over the metal frame, as indicated in the red arrow pointing to the brown elastic band in the first picture.

Step 2: Attach Metal Paper Clip

Open up and attach a metal paper clip over the wrapped elastic band, press it down hard over the button and clip it over the elastic band, make it is tightly in place over the red ignite button to ensure it is always pressing down on it, as shown in the second picture.

Step 3: Test Clip Tightness Over Button

To test this metal clip is in tightly in place over the button, just slightly open the propane tank by turning its top knob counter-clockwise. You should hear some slight hissing sound to ensure the propane ignite button valve is always being tightly pressed by the clip. Then turn off the propane tank knob turning it turning clockwise, ensure it is firmy closed.

Step 4: Turning on Heater

Whenever you want to turn on the heater, just open the knob on the 20lb propane tank by turning its top knob counter-clockwise If the clip is firmly in place over the ignire button, then you should the same hissing sound as in the previous step 3. Then you can just focus on lighting up the heater, such as with a BBQ butane lighter / cigarette lighter / matches / etc. It will then release blue turning to yellowish-red flame.

Step 5: Indoor Safety Precautions

If using this indoor, especially in wintertime: best to have at least a carbon monxide dectector, a window / air condition / ventaliation slightly open, or even some fan running in the room (eg. in rural cabin / camps / tents). Also good to have some portable fire extinguisher nearby.

Step 6: Turning Off Heater

To turn off the heater, just close the knob on the 20lb propane tank by turning it clockwise. The red heat will just goes out by iteself within 5 seconds.Don't bother with the clip or the button, leave it stuck in place. Guaranteed no leak in propane.
