Introduction: Firebaked No-Crust Apple Pie
Make an mini, sticky apple pie--All you need is an apple, brown sugar, cinnamon and a fire!
Step 1: Ingredients
You will need:
-A wood-burning fire. It can be a camp or bonfire or fireplace fire.
-An apple. I usually use Granny Smith or Gala.
-Toppings: Cinnamon, brown sugar, and whatever else you want! For this "pie", I added vanilla extract.
Step 2: Fill and Wrap
First, cut the apple in half. Then use the spoon to scoop out the seeds and make a shallow bowl of sorts (See picture). Then fill the "bowl" with your toppings--brown sugar, then cinnamon, then whatever else. Amounts are up to you-if you love cinnamon, add more cinnamon! Last, put the two sides together and wrap with tinfoil.
Step 3: Bake
Here comes the hard part. After wrapping your apple, place it in the coals of the fire. BE CAREFUL! Fires are hot. Baking time depends greatly on the heat of the fire, so just rotate it every couple minutes (to keep it from charring) with a stick or poker until you are able to poke an indentation in the tin foil. For me, this can take anywhere from 7-25 minutes. Then CAREFULLY remove the apple from the fire and let it cool for a couple minutes. Finally, unwrap the tinfoil and enjoy! Note: Some fluid will have collected in the tinfoil. It smells amazing, but is very sticky and hard to clean! So make sure to open the foil on a paper towel or something similar to avoid a big mess.
