Introduction: Fix BObi's Side Brush Motor

About: Hi, I am bObi -the latest addition to the bObsweep family! My fiancé Bob and I, love to clean! We are obsessed with making your floors shiny and dust-free. Enjoy my instructables guides and feel free to come …

If bObi's side brush stops spinning during any cleaning mode, there is a quick repair that may help. Simply replacing the old brush motor with a new one should get bObi back to sweeping close to walls and corners.

This repair requires a Phillips Head Screwdriver and New Side Brush Motor.

Step 1: Remove the Front Wheel

Before we get started remove bObi's dustbin. Next, turn bObi OFF and flip her over onto a flat surface. You will then need to remove bObi’s front wheel. Grip the wheel with your hand and pull straight up, using the screwdriver for leverage.

Behind the wheel are two screws. There is a larger screw set deeper in the wheel compartment. Use the screwdriver to remove it. (Highlighted Blue)

Keep this screw, and all other screws removed from bObi Pet for later reassembly.

Step 2: Remove the Brush Attachment

Remove the screws on both sides of the dustbin.(Highlighted Green)

Then, remove the corner pieces that were held down by the screws.

Grip the brush compartment and pull down to reveal two screws on a red fastener. Remove them with the screwdriver. (Highlighted Yellow)

Step 3: Open BObi's Cover

Pull the brush compartment up until it is freed from bObi. Then, detach the brush compartment and set it aside. (Highlighted Pink)

Uninstall the four screws located beneath the main brush compartment. (Highlighted Blue)

Remove the two screws on the dustbin contact point holder inside bObi. (Highlighted Green)

Then, remove the fastener and set it aside for reassembly.

The cover is no longer secured, so carefully flip Bobi onto her wheels.

Step 4: Detach the Cover Circuit Plugs

Lift the cover to reveal the main board underneath. Remove the two circuit plugs connecting the lid to the mainboard. (Highlighted Pink)

Place the cover aside and you’re ready to replace bObi's side brush motor.

Step 5: Remove the Side Brush Motor

The side brush motor is attached to the circuit board by one red and black twisted wire. Push down on the small white tab and pull to unplug it from the main board. (Highlighted Blue)

If there is glue holding it on bObi, use your screwdriver to break it off.

Note: Remember to remove the screw and brush before trying to lift the motor out of bObi.

Uninstall the three screws holding the motor on bObi, then lift it straight up.

Step 6: Place a New Motor

Line up the motor with bObi's screw posts, and lower it in place. (Highlighted Red)

Install the three screws, and attach the circuit plug to the lower left corner of the main board.

Step 7: Start Closing BObi

Attach the circuit plugs from bObi's cover back on her main board.

The white-wired plug connects in the middle of the main board. (Highlighted Red)

The yellow-wired plug connects at the right side, closer to bObi's right wheel. (Highlighted Pink)

Lay down bObi's cover and line up the edges precisely.

While holding bObi Pet’s top and bottom together, carefully flip her over onto a flat surface.

Next, reinstall the front wheel’s screw. (Highlighted Blue)

Place the front wheel on top and firmly push down to secure it.

Step 8: Screw the Cover Together

Replace the dustbin's red fastener on bObi and install its two screws. (Highlighted Yellow)

Next, install the 4 screws in the space beneath the brush compartment. (Highlighted Green)

Step 9: Replace the Main Brush Attachment

Plug in the brush compartment. (Highlighted Yellow)

Then, replace its red brush fastener and install the 2 screws. (Highlighted Green)

Position the brush compartment back in its original place.

Step 10: Insert the Dustbin

Now reinsert the corner pieces on both sides of the dustbin, with the arms of the brush attachment linked.(Highlighted Pink)

These corner pieces must line up correctly with the brush attachment and hold it in place.

Make sure the rubber strip is not stuck under the brush compartment.

Then, install the 2 screws securing them on bObi. (Highlighted Red)

Make sure the bin can slide in easily before using bObi again.
