Introduction: From Apple to Art
Hey momoluvers! It's Momo and today I'll be showing you an edible garnish that is so elegant and eye catching but so simple and basic to make. I believe that this is a great craft to make for a party and show off to friends! I hope y'all enjoy this tutorial and have fun making it as always!
Remember to vote for the edible art challenge, I appreciate it.
NOTE: Apples turn brown with air exposure! I am continually spritzing freshly cut pieces with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Step 1: Prep
Cut the apple in half diagonally
Save two small seeds, we will use these for eyes later.
Step 2: Chop It!
Put two butter knives across the top and bottom of the apple.
Cut straight down about 1/3 of the way across the apple and the butter knives will stop you from cutting all the way through.
Cut sideways to take out a wedge. Set the wedge aside and repeat this process on the opposite side.
Step 3: If You Like It Then You Shoulda Put a Wing on It!
Take the wedge and place it between the butter knives. Cut about 1/6 cm in downwards, then flip the wedge and cut the other way.
A smaller wedge should detach. Repeat the process on that piece until you have four separate wedges.
Stack the smaller wedges on its larger piece continuing until all of wedges have been layered into a beautiful wing. Put the wing onto the body and your good to go!
Step 4: Head Chizlin
Now as the caption says, we are going to chizzle a head. This sounds violent but rest assured, no apples have been harmed in the making of this instructable!
Cut out a deep and clean groove to fit the head in. Carefully remove the excess piece and begin on the head.
Place the other half of the apple from earlier between the butter knives and cut a few slices.
Take the piece that has a slight heart shape and looks clean i.e.; no seeds or excess skin and cut three lines like I have above.
Press the seeds into the head using a butter knife wherever you want the eyes to be
Place the head into the deep grove. Cut down if necessary.
Step 5: Finito!
And that's all! I hope y'all had fun making this and maybe even laughed at my bad puns. I always love making instructables and I appreciate it so much when y'all vote for my tutorials in contests. It shocks me how far I've come in only 2 years and I have loved it all the way! Thanks so much for being dedicated momoluvers and reading all the way to the end.
