Glow in the Dark Key Rack : 9 Steps

My idea was to make a glow in the dark key rack. I am always losing my keys when I look for them in the morning and really needed a key rack to put them on. Then I thought it would be cool to make it glow in the dark.

Step 1: Step 1: Gather Materials

First of all you must gather the materials you need to make the project. The materials I used was

A piece of wood, I used a precut piece used for addresses on homes
Hooks with screws
Picture hangers
Glow in the dark spray paint
Stencils, I used letters and made my name, but you do not have to do this or you could make any other design you want

Step 2: Step 2: Put on Stencils

Again, you do not have to do this step or you could make any other design on it. But I decided to get letters and put my name on it. The stencils should be evenly placed along the wood.

Step 3: Step 3: Put on First Coat

Right after you put your design on it you should apply your first coat of glow in the dark paint. It will not glow much right after this one but over time after you keep coating it, it will become a lot better.

Step 4: Step 4: Drill Holes

The next step is to drill in the holes for the hooks. You can not just go straight into screwing them in because you risk the board splitting.

Step 5: Step 5: Screw in Hooks

You must screw in the hooks. You should make sure you evenly place them. Or you could offset them if you would like. They should be screwed in very tightly so they never come off.

Step 6: Step 6: Apply Picture Hangers

These are used for hanging up your key rack. They are not absolutely necessary but if you are looking to hang it on your wall then they are handy.

Step 7: Step 7: Add As Many More Coats As You Need

Keep adding on coats of the glow in the dark paint to make it more and more bright when it is in the dark. The more you put on the brighter it will be.
