Gluten free biscuits: Cheap enough for the whole family

Step 1:

I love gluten free biscuits right out of the oven when Mom is serving up some soup, especially these cheesy garlic ones. My Dad loves them, too. They're easy to make and cheap enough for the whole family. Let me show you how...

We use rice flour, cornstarch, and potato flakes to make our gluten free flour because it costs less than most other gluten free flour mixes. Then we add salt, guar gum, baking powder, and sugar. Be sure to include the guar gum or else the biscuits will be crumbly.

Now usually this is where you would add shortening, but since it's not very good for you we use coconut oil. (It is cheapest at Walmart) and here's an easy tip: You don't have to cut it up into small pieces... You can just melt it and pour it in.

Mix it all up and if you need to, add a little more water until the dough sticks together. Drop it in spoonfuls onto your pan, bake it at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes or until they get golden. We like to add garlic powder, extra salt, and cheese to the dough and sometimes even MORE cheese on top when they come out of the oven...

And now you have beautiful gluten free biscuits for YOUR soup.
