Introduction: Grandma J's Homemade Brownies
My family has a pretty big sweet tooth. It's not a holiday or family get together without a dessert. For as long as I can remember, it was my great grandma J who always made sure there was a desert to go around. Out of everything she would make, her homemade brownies would always have me coming back for more. Although my great grandma passed away, her legacy lives on through her love of sweets and in her recipes. This is just one of many she shared, and I hope you enjoy it the way my family does.
Step 1: Brownie Ingredients
2 cups of sugar
1 cup of salted butter
1 tsp of vanilla
A dash of salt
1/4 cup of Hershey's coco powder
1 1/2 cup of flour
Step 2: Combine Ingredients Part 1
In a medium mixing bowl, combine sugar, butter, vanilla, and a dash of salt.
Step 3: Combing Ingredients Part 2
Add in coco, eggs, and flour.
Step 4: Mix
Using a whisk, mix ingredients from Step 2-3 well.
Warning: Do not eat raw batter because it contains eggs.
Step 5: Pour Batter Into Greased Pan
Grease pan by rubbing butter in the pan to cover the bottom and sides. Pour the batter into the greased pan.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Once oven is preheated, place pan into oven for 20-30 minutes.
Step 6: Cooked Brownies
Remove brownies from oven using oven mitts. Insert toothpick into the middle of the brownies to see if they're done. The toothpick will come out clean when they're fully cooked. Let brownies cool before adding frosting.
Step 7: Frosting Ingredients
1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
3 tbs of salted butter
2 tbs Hershey's coco
1 tsp vanilla
A splash of milk (if needed)
Step 8: Make Frosting
To make the frosting, in a small mixing bowl, combine butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and coco powder.
Step 9: Mix Ingredients
Mix ingredients listed in the previous step with a whisk thoroughly. Set aside until brownies are cool.
Step 10: Frost Brownies
Pour frosting made in Step 9 onto cooled, cooked brownies. Spread frosting evenly across the whole pan. Cut your brownies and enjoy!
