Handle Mod for the Mora Classic #2

Introduction: Handle Mod for the Mora Classic #2

About: I'm a multifaceted person, like an onion. Not a cake, an onion.

This instructable is just a few photos of how I modded the handle on my Mora classic #2.
One of the pictures is before mod, which shows the red paint and elliptical handle shape. I didn't like how slippery the paint got when wet, so I sanded off the paint and carved the front half of the handle into an octagonal cross section.
Finally, I sanded the handle with 220 grit sandpaper and finished with three coats of a hot beeswax and mineral oil mixture.
The natural birch handle is much easier to grab onto when wet, and looks better in my opinion.
I've also found the octagonal grip to greatly increase control in fine tasks like carving.
I'd love to hear any questions, criticisms, compliments, or ideas!

Ohhh, I love my Mora knives.

This is what the birch handles look like if you burn the paint off with a torch, followed by a light sanding and an occasional coat of oil.

I got tired of cleaning rust off the blades, so I gave them a zinc phosphate patina.

Wow, the slightly burnt/oiled look makes them seem like family heirlooms!
My previously pure handles are getting pretty dirty as well. I'll wait to see what my handles and blades look like with normal use. I guess I'm a fan of the REALLY natural finish aka time and use, but yours look great as well.
