Introduction: Hanging Jardinerie

Hi! This is my first instructable... It's a hanging pot holder made out of wire hangers, jars and wood.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Here's what you will need for this proyect:

1 Wood batten (pine) 2" x 6" x 27.5" (5cm x 15cm x 70cm)

3 jars

3 wire hangers

3 ceiling hooks

2 teeth hanger

4 nails 1" (2.5 cm)

varnish (any color you'd like)

sandpaper

brush

hammer

wire cutter

Step 2: Mark Spaces

First of all, what you need to do first is sand the wood batten for a softer feel and, for safety, to remove wood chips.

To find the center point all you have to do is adjust your measuring tape from corner to corner (upper left with lower right and then upper right with lower left) and mark an x. Don't draw your line too strong.

After you've found the center point, draw a horizontal line and mark two points: 7 7/8 in (20 cm) from the center to the right and the other one same measure from the center to the left.

Drill the points deep enough for the hooks to enter. Do not insert hooks until you paint the wood.

Turn the batten to mark spaces on the back. From the left side mark 7 7/8 (20 cm) and then push the teeth hangers, do the same from the right side.

Step 3: Painting

To paint the wood I used oak colored varnish, you can also choose any color you'd like.

Read the varnish (paint) can for instructions (may vary).

Dilute with its respective diluent until the mix feels lighter.

Paint carefully with brush. Don't dip the brush into too much paint. Be careful of surpassing.

Step 4: Insert Hooks and Hangers

Once the varnish is dry turn to the back side and hammer the teeth hangers until it is well positioned. Nail the holes.

On the front part insert the hooks until they are safe positioned.

Step 5: To Hang the Jars...

For this step what you need is a wire cutter, wire hangers and the jars.

Unfold the wire hanger with your hands until it remains flat.

Use the wire cutter to coil the hanger onto the neck of the jar. Make sure it's safe by making knots during the process.

Cut the remaining piece of wire.

Step 6: The Final Detail

Place some flowers or plants into the jars and let them hang.
