Introduction: Homemade Lavender and Mint Bath Salt

Have you ever had a rough day and all you want to do is soak in the tub and relax? Maybe it’s that you just are overall achy and need something to soothe your muscle pains. Try a good old fashioned bath salt soak. With ingredients including Epsom salt which has been proven to have natural benefits to help soothe the aches and anxiety. As well as some essential oils to help relax your mind and add on to the benefits of reducing anxiety. Having several holidays and gatherings I have learned that people like to have something on hand to help them relax at the end of a long tedious week. With that, I have made many bath salt concoctions as a little gift that was made from the heart. I myself have used salt soaks to just take a breather and heal some of my sore muscles. Hi, my name is Elizabeth, I will be teaching you how to make lavender and mint bath salt recipe, whether it is for yourself or as a great hand out gift.

Step 1: What You Will Need

For starters get all the ingredients and start portioning out what is needed. In this case portion out two cups of Epsom salt, one-half cup of baking soda, one-quarter cup of Dead Sea salt which is optional, thirty drops of lavender essential oil, ten drops of peppermint essential oil, and finally two tablespoons of any basic oil such as coconut oil. Keeping the dry ingredients separated from the liquid ingredients.

Next step is to take a good-sized mixing bowl, a medium is recommended, this will be the main bowl used. A smaller bowl will be needed for premixing the liquid ingredients. Don’t forget a spoon to help stir when needed.

Step 2: Dry Ingredients

Begin by placing all of the dry ingredients such as the salts and baking soda in the medium bowl and then stir them together. This is to help make sure that everything will be evenly distributed.

Step 3: Wet Ingredients

Then start pouring coconut oil in the smaller bowl then add the thirty drops of lavender oil and ten drops of peppermint oil into the coconut oil and stir them together as well.

Step 4: Mix Together

Once ready it is now time to pour the liquid ingredients into your dry ingredients and stir some more to make sure the oils are well mixed with the salt mixture. It will still be dry looking which is normal because the salt will soak up the oils and release them into the bath once used.

Step 5: Final Touches

Lastly, this is where personal touches can be made if desired. Want to spice things up add some spices from the kitchen, like cinnamon or ginger powder! Some people even add dried rose petals or lavender petals as well to add some extra pizazz.

When done the final product it’s time to find a container. Jars are great containers but anything that is airtight and easily available to will work!

When using bath salts only use a fourth of a cup per bath so toss it right into the bath, and let the water do the rest.

Now it is time to start a hot bath and light some candles and enjoy a salt soak bath!
