Introduction: Healthy Homemade Onion Chip Salad for Family :)

Here's my first Instructables post on how to make a homemade onion chip salad.

Some of the dried onion chips looked as beautiful as flowers, so I was able to impress my family with this beautiful homemade onion chip salad. The onion chips didn't taste pungent at all and tasted good with oil and vinegar dressing.

Step 1: What You'll Need

- Organic vegetables (onions, tomatoes. white cabbage, purple cabbage and black olives.)

- Food dehydrator

- Cutting board and kitchen knife

- Extra virgin olive oil and Balsamic vinegar for salad dressing

- Salad bowl

Remarks:

You can add your favorite veggies and fruits and make a salad as you like.

Food dehydrators cost round U$50+ and I find it worth the cost as I can make preservative-free healthy homemade snacks, e.g. apple chips, peach chips, sweet potato chips etc.

Step 2: Slice Onions

Slice onions horizontally against its layers.

Step 3: Dehydrate the Sliced Onions.

Put the sliced onions in the food dehydrator and set the temperature and timer at 70°C for 10 hours. Leave it overnight to dehydrate.

Remarks: If you prefer crispy onion chips, you can set the timer for 12 hours. The required temperature and time may vary for different dehydrator brands.

Step 4: Homemade Onion Chips

You can enjoy the dried onion chips as snack or make a salad with them.

Step 5: Make a Healthy Onion Chip Salad.

Make a salad with your favorite veggies and homemade onion chips.

Mix balsamic vinegar and extra olive virgin oil for salad dressing.

You may add some citrus fruits (e.g. orange or grapefruit) if you like a little bit of sweetness in your salad.

Step 6: Enjoy!
