Step 1: Materials and Tools

  1. Cardboard
  2. 1.5L< plastic bottle
  3. Folder or Card paper
  4. Boxes
  5. Sticky tape
  6. Cork
  7. Scissors
  8. Bike pump
  9. A creative mind and helpful friends! :)

Step 2: Making the Nose Cone

Cut a circle shape with a line halfway through the folder or the card paper, then overlap the two flaps together and tape it. Tada! One cone completed!

After that, attach your cone to the bottom of the bottle. You've already done the basic structure of your rocket! Hooray!

Step 3: Making the Tail-fins

Cut 3-4 triangles from a piece of cardboard, then use tape to stick it to the main body of the rocket.

Make sure that it is sturdy, and don't forget to check if it is straight and in the middle.

Step 4: Cork Part

Cut the cork in half, and poke a small hole in the center so that the pump needle could go through.

Make sure the pump needle is sticking out.

Tips: If your cork is too small that can't fit the bottle try wrapping it with tapes

Step 5: Final Preparation

Fill 1/3 of the bottle with water, then slowly squeeze the cork into the bottle.

Place the bottle between two heavy boxes or find a friend to help you hold it.

Then pump it as fast as you can. The cork will slowly push the bottle away. Boom! There you go, your homemade DIY water rocket is finished.
