Introduction: Honda Civic CR-V HR-V Bonnet Hood Release Latch Lever Pull Cable Handle Repair Fix Kit Replacement Install Instruction Guide

The Problem

The plastic bonnet release handle snaps making it difficult to open the bonnet.

The plastic handle on the bonnet release cable which you pull to release the bonnet from inside the car is made from a poor-quality plastic. This isn’t suited to the force required to release the bonnet. This inevitably snaps and breaks off making it difficult to release and lift the bonnet. This previously necessitated the complete replacement of the bonnet release cable; which can be expensive and time consuming to fit.

Symptoms of the fault

Bonnet release plastic handle snapped off. Cracked or damaged. Inability to open vehicles bonnet. Release handle broken off or missing.

Our solution

Fit our high-quality metal handle and restore your bonnet release mechanism instantly.

Fit our replacement metal handle in situ and save the cost and time of replacing the complete cable mechanism.

Our handle fits on the end of the cable and tightly fastens restoring use of the cable. The handle can be installed in as little as 10 minutes and restores full function for the life of the vehicle.

Using our handle there is no need to replace the complete cable mechanism. This can be very expensive, time consuming and would only fail again.

Our handle is CNC machined from billet aluminium, polished, black anodised then laser engraved with the car icon (not a sticker!) to match the look of the OEM handle but with the strength of a metal part.

Our part locks securely using two discreet set screws ensuring the tightest fit to the cable. The best solution to this very common fault.

You will receive

1x Billet aluminium black anodised and laser etched handle.

2x Fastening grub screws.

1x Allen key tool.

Step 1: Remove Old Handle Plastic

This repair can normally be carried out in situ on the vehicle, we carried out the repair here on the bench for clarity.

Measure and mark 24mm from the metal end of handle rod.

Using a Dremmel or suitable cutting tool cut away the plastic up to this point to expose the metal core. Cut away the plastic slowly and in increments so as not to damage the metal core.

Step 2: Fit Our New Handle

Slide our handle over the metal core of the rod and fasten the two set screws using the allen key to secure the handle tightly to the rod core.

This will restore function, test the operation and further tighten the set screws if required.

This completes the repair. If you need any further guidance on this install or would like to purchase the parts shown please call us on +44 01843 446643 or email us at sales@x8r.co.uk.
