About: I love woodworking and making fun stuff on the lathe, I really enjoy making stuff and posting it on this website, and I love the Hobbit

So Fall is here! Hurray! So Fall for me means one thing....Apples! So in this easy tutorial I will show you how to make a delicious and simple apple crumble pie.

Step 1: What You Will Need

Pie crust:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons cold water

Apple filling:

2 tablespoons butter
3 sweet apples
1 tart apple
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Crumble topping:

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed dark or light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup chopped pecans

Step 2: Making the Pie Crust

Place the flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl and combine. Scatter chunks of butter in the flour mixture and rub in with your fingers until it resembles coarse yellow meal.  Sprinkle the water over it and stir with a wooden spoon until it is a nice smooth dough. Form a ball with the dough and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate it for 1 hour.

Step 3: Apple Time!

Peel and core 3 sweet apples and 1 tart apple and chop them finely into chunks.

Step 4: Make the Filling

Put the butter in a large skillet. Melt it until it is foamy. Add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and nutmeg. Mix with a wooden spoon and cook over medium high heat until it starts to become a caramel-like substance and the apples are softened. Transfer to a bowl and cool it to room temperature.

Step 5: Make the Crumble Topping

Whisk the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Scatter the chunks of butter in and rub it into the flour mixture with your fingers or a pastry cutter. Add the chopped pecans and toss to combine.

Step 6: Make the Pie

Roll out the pie crust and lay over a pie pan. Smooth to the pan until it is nice and neat. Fold over the edges of the crust hanging over the edge. Now, place two fingers on the edge of the crust and push another finger in between them to "curl" the crust. Fill it with the apple filling and sprinkle the crumb topping over it. Bake at 350 F degrees for 40 minutes. Enjoy!
