What is needed: A person with decently long hair, a brush, and a hair tie.

Step 1: Prepping the Hair

Grab the brush and brush the hair of the person receiving the braid.

Step 2: Sectioning the Hair

Grab a section of hair (about 2 inches wide) at the top of the hairline.

Step 3: Dividing the Hair

From the section of hair, you just grabbed, divide it into 3 equal-sized pieces

Step 4: Holding the Hair

Hold the 3 pieces of hair between different crevices in your fingers.

Step 5: Begin the Braid

Move the left piece of hair you're holding over into the middle and simultaneously move the former middle piece to the left.

Step 6: Adding Additional Hair

Grab a piece of hair- about 1/2 inch- from the top left side of the head (separate from the strands you're already holding) and incorporate it into the new middle piece.

Step 7: Tightening the Hair

After each movement of the 3 pieces, hold your hands close to the top of the bottom of the braid and pull the strands taut.

Step 8: Continue the Braid

Move the right piece of hair you’re holding over into the middle and simultaneously move the former middle piece to the right side.

Step 9: Add Hair From the Right Half of the Head

Grab a piece of hair -about 1/2 inch- from the top right side of the head (separate from the stands you're already holding) and incorporate it into the new middle piece.

Step 10: Tightening the Hair

After each movement of the 3 pieces, hold your hands close to the top of the bottom of the braid and pull the strands taut.

Step 11: Repeating Previous Steps

Repeat steps 5-10 until you run out of additional hair from the side of the head.

Step 12: Regular Braid Hair

Once you run out of additional hair from the side of the head just repeat Steps 5, 7, and 8 (aka regular braiding) until you reach the bottom of the hair

Step 13: Tie the Hair

Once you reach where you would like to end the braid, grab the hair tie and tie off the hair at the bottom of the braid.
