Introduction: How to Cook Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti squash is an amazing and underrated vegetable. It is packed with nutrients and flavor and is so simple to make! Spaghetti squash is a popular low-carb alternative to pasta, but this dish can be dressed up in so many other ways. In this article I will demonstrate how to prepare a spaghetti squash so that you can try it for yourself.

Supplies

For this recipe, you will need to gather the following items and ingredients:

  • Baking sheet
  • Knife
  • Fork
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Spaghetti squash

Step 1: Cut the Spaghetti Squash

First, you will want to cut your spaghetti squash across the width of the vegetable. This allows for the longest strands of "spaghetti" when you're done!

Step 2: Scoop Out Seeds and Season

Second, scrape out seeds and flesh and give the squash a light drizzle of olive oil, followed by a dash of salt and black pepper. Feel free to add any other seasonings you like!

Step 3: Bake the Spaghetti Squash

Next, place your spaghetti squash with the open sides down on your baking sheet. Slip it into a pre-heated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and set a timer for 30-40 minutes.

Step 4: Remove From Oven and Separate Strands

When your timer is up, remove the squash from the oven and allow it to cool for 3-5 minutes. When it has cooled down, start peeling away at the squash with a fork and watch it turn into spaghetti!

Step 5: Season and Serve!

After you are done fluffing the spaghetti strands, you can add a bit more salt and pepper and your spaghetti squash is ready to serve! You can certainly eat it as is, or you can follow one of the many wonderful spaghetti squash recipes online to spice it up. Enjoy!
