The purpose of this project is to design a project that children could make and play around with. This project is pretty simple to construct. The end results of the product should look like the following image:

Step 1: Materials Needed

The following are needed to create this project:

1. Standard sized ruled paper (8 1/2 x 11)

2. Scissors

Step 2: Obtaining a Sheet of Paper

Retrieve a piece of paper that has been bought or given. Make sure the paper is standard sized paper.

Step 3: Creating Two Separate Papers

Next, fold the paper in half from top to bottom. There should be a line across the middle of the paper. After doing this, cut the paper in half using a pair of scissors.

Step 4: Folding the Papers

Fold each of the newly cut papers from top to bottom.

The newly cut papers should resemble a rectangle shaped object.

Step 5: How to Fold the Papers to Resemble a Rhombus

Take the corners of each side of the paper and fold the point to the other side of the paper. This will create triangle points on each side of the paper. Repeat this for the second paper.

Step 6: How to Make the Square Shape

Place 1 paper across the middle of the other paper so they are crossed. Start folding starting with the bottom paper (paper 2) in a counterclockwise direction. When there is one corner remaining, fold it into a little flap creating by the folding of the previous corners.

The product has to have the same length on each side and it should feel like a square. There should be 4 diagonal ridges on the top of the product so that you will know that you had folded the endpoints of the papers correctly.

Step 7: How to Make the Spinning Top Form

Lastly, place your fingers along the middle of each side of the square. Squeeze the middle of the paper until the middle of each side is touching each other in the center. After completing all of the steps, a spinning top should have been created.

Step 8: How to Use

To use the product, place the spinning top on a flat surface. Take your fingertips on two opposite pointed ends of the spinning top. Apply pressure on the ends so that it will spin fast.
