Step 1: Rinse the Melon

Rinse and dry the whole watermelon to ensure cleanliness and remove any dirt or residue.

Step 2: Cutting

  • Take the large knife and carefully slice the watermelon in half crosswise. This will create two circular pieces instead of oblong ones.
  • Place one of the halves cut side down on a clean cutting board, ensuring a stable surface for cutting. Using the large knife, cut the watermelon in half again. Now, you will have four equal parts in total.
  • Take one quarter of the watermelon and divide it into five pieces (image below) with 2 small pieces at both ends and 3 equal larger pieces in the middle.
  • Switch to the small knife and carefully cut away the rind from each of the five pieces. Make sure to remove the green skin completely, exposing the juicy red flesh.
  • Once the rind is removed, cut the watermelon flesh into 2-3 smaller pieces, depending on your desired serving size. This will give you bite-sized watermelon slices that are easy to eat and enjoy.
  • Repeat steps 5 to 7 with the remaining three quarters of the watermelon, ensuring consistent and uniform cuts for each piece.
  • After cutting all the watermelon pieces, transfer them to a clean storage box or an airtight container if you plan to store them for later use.
