Introduction: How to Install a Dock on Ubuntu 10.04
Intro.: I am going to tell you how to install a dock and delete the taskbar in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.
Step 1: Find the Terminal.
Terminal should be under accessories. Open It Up.
Step 2: Open Up Terminal
Open Up The Terminal. Type: "sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator" (Without Quotes). Click Enter Now.
Step 3: Passwords
Type In Your Username's password.
Step 4: Hit the Enter Key.
Hit The Enter key.
Step 5: Type Y.
Type Y at any question it asks.
Step 6: Opening the Dock
In the top left of your screen, click the Ubuntu Logo and navigate to: Accessories/Avant Window Navigator. Click that. Open The Dock.
Step 7: Log Out and Log Back In.
Log out and log back in to be sure it works. Open the dock again. :)

Nice instructables.
Just wanted to mention that at least in my case after the install it does not start on it's own.
You will need to go to Applications|Accessories|Avant Window Navigator to open the dock. If you don't see it in the accessories, then would suggest that you logout, then log back in.
Go back to Applications|Accessories|Avant Window Navigator. The dock should be at the bottom. Right click the dock, select dock preferences. You should have defaulted to the preferences screen. Toward the bottom is Start Awn automatically, check it.
Now close the application and logout. Log back in and you should see your dock in all it's glory.
