Good Day and welcome to Good Cheer.

Like a lot of you, I turned to the web when the lockdowns came. How could I keep doing some of the things I love like making short films, beer, cooking and comedy and turn them into something useful?

Not all the videos I have made succeed but this one is definitely a stronger candidate and is a fun, simple easy recipe worth trying out.

Supplies

Ingredients: Flour, Sugar, Salt, Melted Butter, Beer of your choice.

Loaf pan, parchment paper, bowl, oven.

Step 1: Ingredients/measurements

First, preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Now get your ingredients together.

3 cups of self-raising flour

3 Tbsp of sugar (or you can use honey if you prefer)

355 ml of room temp. beer. (Choose wisely here as this really informs the taste of the loaf. I used a 11.9% stout from one of my local breweries. And it aged better but the first night was a little much. I find something with a big taste in the range of 6-9% ABV works best although IPA's tends to make it a tad bitter.)

1/3 cup of melted butter

and,

a second 1/3 cup of melted butter

1 tsp. salt.

Step 2: Mixing Steps

Add the flour, sugar and salt to the bowl and whisk together.

Then add your beer of choice.

Now toss in the first 1/3 cup of melted butter and stir together but don’t over do it or the bread could come out overly dense.

Step 3: Pan It Up and Bake It in the Oven

Take a loaf pan, line it with parchment paper. This will help make it easier to just pop it out of the pan when it is done, and makes cleaning a touch easier as well!

Dump the entire mix into the pan.

Drizzle the remaining 1/3 cup of melted butter over the top.

Bake for 45-60 minutes, depends on your oven, but basically until it’s done.

Step 4: Final Results

While it is cooling, sprinkle some flakey salt on top.

And there you have it, Beer Bread, or in my case, Rorschach’s Peanut Butter Cup Imperial Stout Boozy Bread.

It has a great crust and a helluva kick of aftertaste for bread.

Hope you enjoyed this video and if you have made this bread and found a great beer for it, let me know what you used for our own future loaves!
